2006 project moonshine STUDENTS:
Charlie Hayes
For the sometime now I've been traveling with a group of underground circus performers. We conveniently decided to steal the identities of a number of students here at Reno High and have been able to go undetected for the past four years. As of late, however, my interests have moved away from the life of sword swallowing and sideshows and towards the arena of documentary filmmaking. Applying for this project was just too tempting to let slip by, and by some wonderful twist of fate, I was selected. My artistic background consists mainly of acting experience, as well as helping to grip for a movie up in the Big C- (or Canada), and making little film experiments of my own. I thought Reno to be seriously lacking in like minded individuals...but I was fooled! The most exciting part about Project Moonshine is that I have been introduced into this creative community of people that I didn't even know existed. I am very grateful for my fellow filmmakers and the generous donors for making this beast live. Thank you.

Allana Noyes
My name is Allana Cheyenne Noyes and I was raised by wild okapis in Bulgaria, but sometimes feel mislead by this truth because one morning I awoke with moon rocks in my pocket. This gives me reason to be suspicious of Reno, and long daily for my real home, the moon. I flip off people I see driving Hummers. I'm an Aquarius. I am Allana Cheyenne Noyes and I'm in love with summer.

Ali Alonso
I will soon be a sophomore at Reno High School. Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, my hobbies include singing, playing guitar, photography, and playing various sports. I have always been very passionate about artistic expression, especially in music. I don’t know exactly what I want to do when I get out of high school, but I am interested in architecture. I have a close family who I love and admire and a tight group of friends who always make me smile.

Noah Conrath
Hello my name is Noah Todd Conrath and I am a damn proud native of Reno, Nevada!!! Because I have a high level of A.D.D., I am naturally drawn to TV and movies, and have therefore probably spent around 1/2 of my life in front of the television. My dad loves movies--he has never seen a movie he doesn't like-- and throughout my childhood and even now, at least one night out of the weekend, you can find our whole family together at the movie theatre or camped out on the couch. So, I have grown up appreciating cinema.
I started actually making movies in elementary school, for school projects. I never wanted to write a report or do a presentation in front of the class, so I used our family video camera to film my presentations. I did this for almost all of my projects, from dressing up as Duke Ellington for a Social Studies project to blowing up a model blimp in my yard for a History report on the Hindenburg-- I realized that my teachers were really impressed with a video (instead of a paper) and I filmed my way to a B in most classes. So, my interest in film and the reason I am involved in Project Moonshine should probably be credited to my ADD and slacker tendencies. Today I immerse myself in as many film projects possible and am looking to study film in college starting Fall 2007.

Danielle Hauser
"I stole my sisters boyfriend. It was all a whirlwind, heat and flash. Within a week we killed my parents and hit the road." The quote is Sonic Youth from the album Goo. I can quote them now right? I'm Danielle Hauser. I'm 16 years old. I errupted from volcanic ash on the lonely planet of Mars. Mars is a bore so I decided to migrate onto more exciting things; Viva Las Vegas as they say. I seemed to have taken a wrong turn and in so doing, have been brought to the tease of Las Vegas: Reno.

Ben Kolton
Born in Wyoming, I moved to Nevada and have lived here since 1990. I've been interested in film since I first saw Aladdin in 1992. Since that day, film has been a passion and a love. My top three films are Dr. Strangelove, Pulp Fiction, and Millers Crossing. I've been involved with other productions but this is the first time I've been involved in something of this scale and organization.

Nathan Lower
Hey, my name is Nathan Lower, I was born in 1987 in Alexandria, VA. I lived in Arlington, VA. (just outside of D.C.) for 14 years. During this time I slowly went from being an awesome student to being a "Chronic academic underachiever." This continued when I moved to Reno, NV. in June of 2001. It was about this time I began to play guitar and broaden my musical interests. This brought on a more developed interest in other areas of art. I've never had any kind of real job. Some of my friends might describe me as egotistical or narcissistic, however to paraphrase Woody Allen, if I identify with any figure in Greek mythology it wouldn't be Narcissus, it'd be Zeus.
