January 5, 2008 - Project Moonshine goes to UNLV for an exhibit for Dada Motel and a screening of the rough cut of the documentary directed by Michael Albright and edited by Charlie Hayes.  Thanks Chad Sorg and all the artists who contributed work to the project.  The exhibit will run from Jan. 25th through Mar. 28th. April 3 2007 - Califone has agreed to allow Project Moonshine to film their set at the Green Room on May 7th.  We’re honored to do it and very excited for this opportunity.  Thanks Tim.

 

April 1 2007 - Being Here, a documentary on Reno’s Artown will premier at the Reno Film Festival on May 5th at 12:30 PM at the Nevada Museum of Art.  Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults and will be available at the door prior to the screening.

 

March 13 2007 - Sonny Smith: Weird Fantasies and Strange Adventures, a documentary on San Francisco songwriter, Sonny Smith won best short film at Noise Pop 2007.  Although this doc is not part of Project Moonshine, many of the same people have been involved in its production.  The film is still a work in progress and will be directed and edited by Michael Albright.  Stay tuned for more information.

 

February 1, 2007 - We are excited to announce the next project for summer 2007!  Applications are available for download on the website and due May 18th

January 28, 207 - Trailers for both films are up on the website and YouTube.com

January 15, 2007 - The Moonshiners finish a promotional video for Holland (see CURRENT PROJECTS).  Directed by Noah Conrath, edited by Charlie Hayes.

January 11, 2007 - Sonic Youth gets accepted into Noise Pop in San Francisco (www.noisepop.com).  The film will screen on March 2 at 7:00 PM.

January 1, 2007 - Both films are completed! We’re just finishing sound mastering and putting together DVD extras.  Stay tuned for information on Reno premiers and various film festival screenings.

December 20, 2006 - The Moonshiners make a short documentary on Holland’s double-dutch tournament.  Shot by Danielle Hauser and edited by Charlie Hayes. 

October 28, 2006 - Rough draft versions of the films are screened at the Nevada Museum of Art.  Revisions are currently being made and the films should be finished by the end of the year.

September 5, 2006 - Production begins on a promotional piece for “Holland”  (see CURRENT PROJECTS), which will not only be shot entirely by moonshiners, but also directed and edited by them as well.

August 22, 2006 - Sonic Youth (See CURRENT PROJECTS) agrees to send us a soundboard recording of the film to help us create a finished product.  Thank you, Lee Ranaldo and Aaron Mullan.

August 10, 2006 - New Project: “Holland” educational workspace - Project Moonshine's summer students will continue to develop their filmmaking skills by documenting the construction of "Holland", which is a new educational workspace for music and other art forms. (See CURRENT PROJECTS)

July 5, 2006 - The moonshiners recover from a night of hanging out with Sonic Youth.  Thanks to the band for the candid interviews and great show. Stay tuned for more info. (See PROJECT PHOTOS)

July 1, 2006 - Artown begins!  For the rest of the month, a group of moonshiners will be cruising around Reno with digital video cameras, filming hundreds of artists and events.  (See PROJECT PHOTOS).

June 27, 2006 - Sonic Youth agrees to let Project Moonshine document their concert in Reno, NV on July 4th.  

June 3, 2006 - Seven high school students from the Reno area are chosen to participate in Project Moonshine’s summer filmmaking program.  (See MOONSHINERS)
